URBAN SAINTS (Crusaders) 2008
Crusaders meet every Friday evening during school term from 5-7 30pm. Crusaders are now known as Urban Saints nationally but we still refer to ourselves in St Thomas's as Crusaders.
Minis meet from 5 - 6pm. This age group is between 5 - 8yrs. Juniors and Inters are now joined as one group and age ranges from 8-15.
During the year the number in minis has fluctuated between 3 -8 children each week. Since the
Christmas term numbers have dropped once again to 3 children each week, these are the faithful ones
who attend regularly. They enjoy the games at the beginning of me session and are attentive in the God slot, which consists of a Bible story followed by an activity of either colouring or making a craft item associated with the Bible story.
The Juniors and Inters continue to be one group and despite the age span there is good communication between the youngsters, the older ones being considerate toward the younger ones. Behaviour of both groups give (he leaders no cause for concern. We average about 12-14 youngsters each week. This a very lively group enjoying both games at the beginning and participating well in the God slot, which lasts for about twenty minutes. Occasionally at the end of the session the youngsters split into groups with a leader and this gives them the opportunity to ask questions or discuss any other concerns they may have, whether it be regarding their faith or any other matter that may arise.
This group during the year attend a week-end at Coleg- y Bala in September ,which is subsidised by the Sunday tea money, thanks go to everyone on a Sunday for their contribution to make this week-end happen. Other activities we attend is the swim and fan evening held at The Nova in Prestatyn, and the summer camps. These events are organised by Andy Hughes our area officer. Denbigh Crusaders are now in their 16th year and most of the leaders are the original, maybe with a few more grey hairs and stiff joints but with Gods help we plough on.
We have seen many youngsters come and go over the years and ask for Prayer for past and present
Crusaders and pray for numbers to increase in all three groups and for Crusaders to continue for
many more years to come. Pray for strength and guidance for all the leaders in teaching of the Gospel
to these young people, and for them to accept Jesus into their lives. There are six leaders but no junior leaders though our older girls give us great support with the children.
“Train children how to live right, and when they are old, they will not change”.
Proverbs 22:6.
